Meet Your Educator
Abayomi Adesanya - Mr Yomi
DoP | Director | Photographer | Drone Pilot
Abayomi helps aspiring and growing creatives develop their skills, gain clarity and approach their work with greater purpose. His teaching combines practical instruction with guidance on creative development and the business of photography.
Whether you're just starting out or ready to take your photography business to the next level, this bootcamp is where that next step begins.
Can I join without any experience?
Yes. This bootcamp is specifically designed for complete beginners as well as self-taught creators who want to fix gaps in their knowledge. We start from the absolute basics—how cameras work, exposure, framing, and simple lighting setups—before moving into practical shooting and editing. You only need a willingness to learn, attend classes punctually, and complete your projects. Intermediate photographers get just as much value refining technique and filling skill gaps they've never had explained clearly.
Where Are You Located?
Aguda Surulere Lagos.
Can I complete the bootcamp using only a smartphone?
You can participate in the practical filming and content creation exercises using a modern smartphone (installing apps like Blackmagic Camera or ProShot). However, to get the full value of the photography modules—including manual lens control, off-camera flash triggers, and studio strobe lighting—learning on a DSLR or mirrorless camera is strongly advised. If you don't own one, you can hire a camera at the studio or partner with a classmate during practical sessions.
Which editing applications will we use?
For photography, we focus on industry standards: Adobe Lightroom and AI for image selection, exposure, and color grading, alongside Adobe Photoshop for portrait cleanup and retouching. For videography, we teach editing principles using CapCut (for fast, high-impact mobile and desktop workflow) and Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve for sequencing, color correction, and audio mastering.
Are equipment hire and software included in the fee?
No. The ₦250,000 tuition fee covers full instruction, guided studio practice, studio lighting and modifiers on set, feedback, and mentorship. Individual personal equipment hire (laptop at ₦15,000/day or camera at ₦15,000/day) and software subscriptions are separate. Note that rented gear remains on the academy premises for training use only.
What support continues after the bootcamp?
Learning doesn't stop on last day. You receive lifetime access to our active Visual Diamond Academy alumni WhatsApp community. You can share ongoing client work for feedback, ask technical questions, network with fellow creatives, and receive notifications when assistant crew or second-shooter opportunities become available.
Do I need my own camera and laptop?
Having your own laptop (Mac or Windows) is necessary for the editing and retouching modules, as you will work directly on your own files. Having your own camera is recommended, but not compulsory to register. If you do not have a camera or laptop yet, we offer daily equipment rentals on-site so you can still participate fully in every class.
What do I need to complete to receive my certificate?
To receive your official Certificate of Completion, you must attend at least 80% of the intensive class sessions and successfully submit your completed Week 4 portfolio: a curated set of retouched photos, a 60-second edited B-roll video, and a finished interview video that meet the academy’s baseline standards.
What attendance is required during Weeks 3 and 4?
Weeks 1 and 2 require daily, mandatory in-person attendance from Monday to Friday (10:00 AM – 2:00 PM). Weeks 3 and 4 are more flexible: you will attend scheduled practical studio booking slots, team shoot sessions, and virtual review clinics, giving you dedicated time to execute, edit, and refine your portfolio pieces.
How much studio access is included?
During Weeks 3 and 4, students receive scheduled access to the Visual Diamond studio space and in-house lighting gear to execute their assigned portfolio shoots. Slots are coordinated with the academy admin to ensure everyone gets dedicated shooting time without overcrowding.
How are practical groups organized?
With our cohort capped at 20 students, practical classes are divided into smaller production crews of 4 to 5 people. During shoots, crew members rotate across essential roles—director, camera operator, lighting assistant, sound recordist, and model/talent coordinator—ensuring everyone gets real, hands-on time handling gear.
